Biography
Leonardo was born in Bologna, Italy, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology and Master’s Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. For his Master’s Thesis, he joined Professor Eric Miska’s Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, where he focused on the set-up of a new protocol to study RNA structure through in-vivo crosslinking. This aimed at studying the structural dynamics of the Internal Ribosome Entry Site (IRES) of several disease-related transcripts and how these changes could be linked to the onset of the relative disorders. He joined Professor Franka Voigt’s Laboratory as a PhD student in November 2025 to investigate the link between synaptic transmission and local RNA recruitment via a combined single-molecule and voltage-imaging approach in hiPSCs-derived neurons.
