Biography
Tessa obtained her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. She then joined the Cellular Biochemistry laboratory of Professor Liesbeth Veenhoff at the European Research Institute for the Biology of Ageing, where she investigated the crosstalk between the protein quality control network and nuclear pore complex biology. Her PhD research focused on gaining a mechanistic understanding of chaperone regulation of FG-Nucleoporin phase transitions. Tessa Joined the Pelkmans lab in June 2026 to investigate the role of dynamic intracellular organization, including biomolecular condensates, in cellular state transitions using quantitative multiplexed imaging approaches.
