Tinri studied molecular sciences (biochemistry) in Wageningen, the Netherlands. She did her PhD on developing digital educational materials for molecular biology in the lab of Ton Bisseling, WUR. One of the topics involved modeling, which sparked her interest in the possibilities this approach offers. Therefore, she did a postdoc on modeling in the groups of Ernst Hafen and Konrad Basler at the University of Zurich and ETH. She proposed that mechanical forces are essential regulators of Drosophila wing disc growth and size. In order to explore the role of mechanical forces in other developmental processes, she then worked as senior researcher (Oberasssistent) on modeling and image analysis in the labs of Michael Hengartner and Alex Hajnal at UZH. During this time she also had the opportunity to teach programming and modeling. Currently, she teaches several courses and supports other lecturers on the programming side.
