Katerina is coming from Greece, where she obtained her Bachelor in Biology from the University of Patras. She traveled to the Netherlands to continue her Neuroscience and Cognition studies at Utrecht University, where she received a Master's degree. During those times, Katerina worked on axonal guidance with Semaphorin6A in the lab of Prof. Dr. Jeroen Pasterkamp's in UU, then dived into a study concerning the importance of molecular consistency of axonal growth cones in Neurodevelopmental disorders. Her interest in growth cones led her to move to Boston, where she studied molecular candidates on subspecific cortical growth cones implicated in Neurodevelopmental disorders in Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Macklis's laboratory at Harvard University. She returned to Utrecht to work at the UMC on adult neural stem cells in Parkinson's disease on human brain tissue. In 2021, she joined the Stoeckli lab to start her Ph.D., studying molecular mechanisms of commissure formation in the vertebrate nervous system. When Katerina is not in the lab, she spends time with her family and friends. Also, she seeks to be active (weightlifting, snorkeling, running) or learning new sports (surf, tennis), enjoys good food, and travels often
