Yannick was born and raised in the Netherlands, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in psychobiology and master's degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Amsterdam. During this time, he completed two research internships: One on post-traumatic stress in combat veterans at the University of Utrecht MGGZ, and one on how the gut microbiome may affect microglia and their influence on nociception at UCC Cork. In fall 2023 he started as a PhD-student in the Müller lab and is currently investigating presynaptic homeostatic plasticity in Fruit flies (Drosophila Melanogaster).

In his spare time Yannick enjoys the outdoors, a good podcast, or book.
