Biography

Yael Yair is a post-doctoral researcher with diverse background in both molecular virology and microbiology. Yael was a post-doctoral researcher in Dr. Orly Laufman’s lab at the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she led a global profiling of protein subcellular location during enterovirus infection. She holds a PhD from Tel Aviv University, where her research focused on gene regulation, small RNAs and serum resistance in septicemic Escherichia coli.

Yael is fascinated by the way viruses can hijack the cellular machinery and metabolism to their benefits. She aims to gain better understanding of the molecular events that unfold across host-cell compartments during the course of viral infection.

When she is not in the lab, you can find her foraging for medicinal plants and mushrooms, discovering interesting insects, playing the French horn, and going to rock and metal bands concerts.
