Lukas was born and raised in Küsnacht, Switzerland. He completed his BSc degree in biology and political science at the University of Zurich. As an MSc student, he joined the lab of Darren Gilmour, where he investigated the interplay between migration and differentiation in zebrafish fibroblasts. Since 2026, he is working on his PhD with the Hajnal lab, trying to discover new small-molecule Wnt effectors and helping to establish C. elegans as a drug screening model.

Outside of the lab, Lukas is active in university life, serving as co-president of the junior researchers’ association VAUZ. When in Zurich, you will find Lukas enjoying the cultural variety of this beautiful city in the theatre, cinema, or opera. When at home in Sargans, he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors, whether on the ski slopes or along hiking trails.
