Shania grew up in Appenzell, Switzerland. She completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Health Sciences and Technology at ETH Zurich, with a major in Neuroscience for her Master's degree. For her thesis, she joined the Bachmann lab to investigate the function of CEP290 in cell type-specific ciliary signaling pathways. After completing her degree, she continues in the Bachmann group as a lab technician, contributing to the daily work of the iPSC and organoid lab while continuing aspects of her Master’s project.

Outside the lab, Shania enjoys spending time outdoors whether it’s hiking or playing beach volleyball in the summer or skiing in the winter.
