Anthony Sonrel was born in Nyon, Switzerland. He studied Biology at the University of Lausanne and after obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in 2015 he continued with a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics. There, he studied the genetic subtypes of obesity in the Statistical Genetics Group of Professor Zoltán Kutalik. He also worked in the Spatial Ecology Group of Professor Antoine Guisan on meta-analysis and large-scale analyses of biodiversity states. After obtaining his Master’s degree in 2018, he worked as an Intern in Bioinformatics at the Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research (NIBR) where he gathered experience in ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and machine learning. In 2019, he joined the Robinson Lab as a PhD student of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics program. His current research interest is the evaluation and the development of tools for single-cell RNA sequencing analysis. More specifically, he is interested in methods that allow an effective identification and disentanglement of cell populations.
