Katrina studied Biophysics in her Bachelor’s and Master’s at the Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. During that time she visited the University of Padua, Italy, to pursue her Bachelor’s thesis. Katrina completed her doctorate at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin, Germany, using mass spectrometry-based proteomics to study how mutations in disordered protein regions can cause disease by influencing protein-protein interactions. Katrina joined the Pelkmans lab in June 2019 and works on understanding the role of liquid-liquid unmixing in chromatin organization and regulation.
